Toy Story 3 - Combo Blu-ray 3D active + Blu-ray 2D Review

My review is brief as others have almost said it all. I just want to say that I am 62 years old, and just the thought about the way I felt when I saw this movie in the theatre makes me tear up. It is a nostalgic feeling in a big way. Reminds you of your childhood and those special feelings about growing up. You want to grow up and get on to being an adult in the worst way, but thinking back now your childhood was such a very special time. So fleeting and if we're lucky, such a special time in our lives.
I highly recommend the purchase of this movie to add to your collection.
I honestly feel that the series should stop here. Perfect right where it was left.

Capricorn

December 22 - January 19

This is no pleasant task for me to explain to all you clinging, climbing Capricorns - why you end up being the butt of most of the astrological jokes. It's because you're so dang serious!

You must achieve the highest levels of Success or you will feel your life is worthless. Money, career excellence, recognition, physical security, and emotional intimacy are all maters of extreme importance. And the fat is, whether you give yourself credit or not, you almost always prevail.

You may cover up your eternal desperation to success with a clever, subtle sense of humor. You will outlive and outdo all the others. You may not be chuckling now, but you'll always get the last laugh.

Jacqueline Stallone's Starpower: Capricorn Review

The video is definitely dated. It appears to be filmed in the early 90's to late 80's. But, the information is VERY useful. It highlights the basics of Astrology which includes, the origins, uses and applications in life, and definitions of terms. This video is good for a beginners or someone interested in learning Astrology.

Deep Purple - Live in Concert 72/73 Review

The color footage of '73, is worth the price alone. Watching (and listening) to the #1 band in the world (1973 and 1974) in it's prime, is simply priceless.

This is like a DVD Greatest Hits collection.

Highway Star is a great opener with singer Ian Gillan yelling at somebody in the front row and then hitting them with the microphone stand. Strange Kind of Woman is next and shows why Gillan was the "Elvis Presley" of hard rock singers! Great guitar and vocal dueling! Child in Time follows and is just marvelous with some wonderful and long intense solos. Next up is The Mule, featuring drummer Ian Paice doing a great solo and there's more of a prominent bass guitar sound from Roger Glover. Actually, the bass wasn't even in the mix on the first three songs, but through a great re-mastering job they've somehow, amazingly brought out some of Glover's bass overtones. Still, how could Danish TV have forgotten to put the bass in the mix, oh yeah, it's TV, not radio.

IT SEEMS MOST PEOPLE ARE FINDING A PROBLEM WITH THE DVD AT THE END OF THE MULE. Not a big deal, because I usually skip ahead to the next track during the drum solo anyway. But, if you love your drum solos you should buy the EMI import version (which works fine) or send your copy back to Eagle Rock Entertainment for a proper working disc. Here's the address that was given to me...

Eagle Rock Entertainment
22 West 38th Street
7th Floor
New York, NY 10018

Next, are a couple more from Machine Head, Lazy and Space Truckin, showing off keyboardist Jon Lord and guitarist Ritchie Blackmore. Actually the whole band is shown off nicely throughout the entire show up to this point. Then comes the three encore numbers, Fireball (amazing), Little Richard's Lucille (rock and roll shot into the cosmos) and DP's only #1 hit, Black Night. What a powerful ending to the concert.

The next footage comes from 1973 (in color) and has the classic Smoke On The Water, but edited. Plus, you get another version of Strange Kind of Woman and Space Truckin' also edited. It's cool to compare the two, because DP doesn't play their music with a "Connect the dots" approach. So it's a real eye opener. I remember this (25 minute color) footage from the summer of '73. I recall when it originally aired on a show called "In Concert" I believe. I thought the band had changed so much, but were still great. This DVD will be something I treasure for the rest of my life.

If you are new to hard rock and you've collected Led Zeppelin's recent dvd release, then you owe it to yourself to pick up this dvd. The release of these concerts is an important day in rock music history. Hopefully kids will finally get a taste of something besides Zeppelin and Sabbath. Love long DEEP PURPLE!

PS: A friend of mine was at this very 1972 show (from Denmark) and said it was the best show he ever saw! He also thought it was more powerful being there in person, of course, so he suggested to turn it up nice and LOUD and you'll be fine. It brought back great memories of seeing the world's biggest band.

Slip back in time and enjoy!

Weeds - Saison 5 - Coffret 3 DVD Review

Showtime's series Weeds is one of the best shows on television. Each season is consistently strong- with engaging, inventive stories, complex charecters and wonderful dark comedy. Mary-Louise Parker is absolutely phenomenal as Nancy Botwin, one of the most complex and uncompromising charecters to ever appear on television. Parker is backed by an always reliable supporting cast who bring humor and heart to the at times, very dark proceedings. Weeds' Fifth Season is the slowest one but that does not mean it's bad. It is the most character driven season, we get to see the true colors of these charecters and what they really want, and at times, its not pretty. Nancy continues her downward spiral and drags her youngest son Shane down with her. Silas becomes the emotional center of this extremely dysfunctional family, and at 18 has become the real father figure. Andy strives to get out of Nancy's grasp and start his own life while Celia tries her hardest to be a different person and at times actually tries to BE Nancy. This season is all about coming to terms with the inevitable and face the consequences. There is plenty here to reward long time fans of the show and viewers interested in the psychological make-up of these crazy charecters. The season finale promises to set up more of the themes established in this season. I cant wait to see what happens next. Weeds is still my personal favorite show on TV, layered, funny, deep and always surprising.

This Season Five DVD set includes the episodes:
- Wonderful, Wonderful
- Machetes Up Top
- Su-Su-Sucio
- Super Lucky Happy
- Van Nuys
- A Modest Proposal
- Where the Sidewalk Ends
- A Distinctive Horn
- Suck 'n' Spit
- Perro Insano
- Ducks and Tigers
- Glue
- All About My Mom

The Mandrake Root (Institutional Use) Review

Please count me among the European Drama company's sincere and enthusiastic fans! I received a copy of the Mandrake Root. With great anticipation I watched the film unfold with a rhythm, tempo, agility, and grace that remained faithful to the text. The direction and skilled actors were able to maintain Machiavelli's wit while updating his humour. A genuine tour de force and a great, great pleasure to watch.
