Product Description
It's 2007 and Washington D.C. is in the midst of rapid gentrification. In the Shaw/North Capitol district a low-income mostly African-American community is being forced out of a neighborhood and a city they helped build. Many of these women were once civil rights activists, but now sit alone in a city that doesn't have time to take note of its history and care of its elders. Mark Anderson, an activist, writer and punk rocker, was heavily influenced by his time in Positive Force, and still continues to head this radical collective that promotes DIY values and punk rock in the nation's capitol. A few years ago, he saw an opportunity to bring the group he was working with in the punk rock scene together with the senior citizens he was working with at his job. When these two groups came together a revolutionary sort of relationship started to develop. Using clips from concerts and musicians, to interviews with senior citizens, a compelling view of the city and its inhabitants emerges.
