Halloween Blu-ray SteelBook [German Import, Region Free] Review

The original Halloween is a classic and will in my book always receive a five star rating. Recently there has been a great deal of remakes that were flops and catered to the teeny bopper crowd such as, The Fog, The Omen, Dark Water, etc. However there has been only two remakes that I thought were diserving of our attenion, one being the remake of The Hills Have Eyes, and Halloween.

What I liked about the remake was it gave us something fresh to work with. In the original Halloween we never really knew why Michael was bad, in this remake, the first thirty minutes or so expore the childhood of Michael Myers. People say that the dialog concerning Michael's family was wrong. Trust me, I have seen broken homes and Mr. Zombie gives us exactly what you would expect from a trashy family.

Besides satisfying my curiosity of Michael's childhood, I found this to be similar in many cases to the original, but at the same time the material was quite fresh with new chills and scares. Zombie took a masterpiece and reminded us why it is called a masterpiece. He accomplished a great job capturing a 70's look and theme, and did a great musical score as well. This is possibly the best horror remake that I've ever seen.

The Most Gigantic Lying Mouth Of All Time Review

Two words... Freak Juice! Oh, and "free petrol" as well! This DVD is a collection of brilliant work - the videos are extraordinary expressions of the music of Radiohead. It's not a documentary along the lines of "Meeting People is Easy", it's more like "7 Television Commercials" in that it is videos put to Radiohead's work, or video of them performing, and a few funny interviews with band members. There are four "episodes" with introductions by "Chieftan Mews". Episodes 1 - 3 were originally available on the radiohead.tv web site (no longer there), while Episode 4 is an addition for this DVD release.

I love everything on this disc, but some of the highlights and my very favorites include: the two pieces directed by Juan Pablo Etcheverry -"De Tripas Y Corazon" (Where I End And You Begin) [Ep. 2] & "Dog Interface" (Fast Track) [Ep. 4]; "The Cat Girl" (2 + 2 = 5) [Ep. 1]; "The Scream" (No Surprises) [Ep. 2]; "Chickenbomb" [Ep. 4]; and you gotta love the satire of "The Homeland Hoedown" [Ep. 4]!

The crowning achievement, however, has got to be Johnny Hardstaff's Push Pulk / Spinning Plates video [Ep. 3]. In my opinion, it captures the essence of these songs - and it has to be the most disturbing thing you'll see in quite a while.

As a Radiohead fan, it's great to see & hear some of the unreleased & non-album (b-sides etc.) material too. If only they had included that catchy music that used to play online between radiohead.tv episodes (even catchier than "The most Gigantic Theme")... ah well.

Yes, this material might be considered "avant garde" or "weird".... However, it should really get you thinking, and how often do videos and music get you doing that nowadays?

Product Description

" For five perfect months, they'd lingered and loved in a tropical Garden of Eden. But one quiet night, a heinous act of treachery would forever render their paradise lost. THE TRUE STORY OF THE MUTINY ON THE BOUNTY casts aside the Hollywood versions and reveals what really happened between sensitive, 24- year-old first officer Fletcher Christian and his irascible captain, William Bligh. Venture to tiny Pitcairn Island, where descendants of the mutineers live to this day, and trace the incredible, 3,500 mile journey of Bligh and 18 loyalists across the South Pacific after they were cast adrift by Christian. Through the research of the world's foremost Bounty experts, as well as the journals and memoirs of eyewitnesses to the event, the real story emerges. It was not a simple case of right and wrong, hero and villain, but a tale of two men who could weather gales and swells, but not control their violent passions. "

Sea Tales: True Story of Mutiny on The Bounty [VHS] Review

The movie was about strength, character, and dignity.
I felt the men in the movie all had dreams of serving their country. When they were denied to become pilots and officers, I knew that they were going to be used.
The captains in the movie did not care for their men at all. The only person that really cared about these men was their drill sargent. When the men requested to become fighters, pilots, and officers....the military lied to them and denied them a chance...when they got their assignments they were sad. They did the job even without training and the proper tools....that was dignity and honor to server their country. What happened to safety of people on the job?
The mutiny was not an issue because they never had that in their minds. I can't believe that America the country that we all love and care for...will not do the right thing and give them their honary discharges after all these years. There was no lesson to be learned on the part of the men...the lesson in the movie is
for the Officers that made the decision to place people in harms way and use them like machines instead of humans....the wrong decision was to take take honor and dignity from these men. I hope that everyone that made the decision to mistreat these men, will speak up and do the right thing and give these men their dignity and honor back.

The Only Game in Town Review

I saw this movie over 20 years ago. I still remember it with affection - it is one of the best movies I've seen. No thrilling chase scenes, no overt sex, no filthy language, no special fx, just smart, sharp, intense dialogue between two people that will keep you transfixed til the end. I want it but won't pay $75+.

Auditions Review

I bought this one a few weeks ago because...drum roll, please and thank you...of it being Linnea Quigley's second movie appearance (just after Psycho From Texas).

Linnea is 20yrs old in this one and going by the name of Sally Webster, regardless of the film's insistence that she's 15. Linnea was born in 1958 and this film was completed in 1978. The entire movie is a bogus interview/casting couch pastiche about as phony as all of the found-footage genre currently in vogue, even though Charles Band went out of his way to tout it as factual in a new opening found in the special features section. This movie has lots of nudity and sex, solicitation and an attempted rape, all staged and silly; virtually all of the actors appear a few months later in Linnea's 3rd film Fairy Tales, in which these "auditions" were directed for. If any of this were "real" the feds would hardly have allowed either its possession, reproduction, distribution or sale as the various "crimes" would have certainly landed the production crew in the clink.

I've added Auditions to my found-footage collection, even though it isn't a horror movie.

Linnea was a dream girl for me when I went through puberty and even though her Scream Queen status is not apparent here her girl-next-door allure is more than on display.

Thank you, Mr. Band for releasing this odd flick.

Now, I wonder who has the rights to Summer Camp, Linnea's 5th movie (following Deathsport and preceeding Don't Go Near the Park)?
