Oh, it is lovely to have these favorites on CDs! The quality is not always the best, but the sheer adventuring is fabulous. The shows preserved here are familiar to all fans of this show, the greatest of its kind ever produced. Mostly it's the cast of the New York production-Russell Thorson, Jim Boles, and Tony Randall as Jack, Doc, and Reggie, but we hear other actors and casts in the Adventures by Morse and The City of the Dead episodes.

So, what is the appeal of these shows, so many years after they were initially broadcast? The exuberance of the writing and acting are contagious. Remember when a walk into the woods seemed like a wild, unpredictable adventure? Remember holding club meetings in a treehouse or a natural cave of vines somewhere? Remember the thrill of doing something physically scary but fun? That begins to get at it, yes!

Those of us in the know warm to these soldiers of fortune on their outlandish adventures in the same way that larger, more recent audiences flock to the sagas of Indiana Jones and a host of big screen heroes and heroines. They fan the flames of a child's eternal delight.

Coupling: The Collection Review

Serious Coupling fans will NOT be disappointed with this attractively packaged box set, which includes all four seasons of the show, as well as hilarious outtakes, interviews with writer Steven Moffat, his wife, producer Sue Vertue (on whose relationship the characters of Steve and Susan are loosely based); an in-depth behind the scenes look at the making of the show; and commentaries on selected episodes with Moffat joined by various members of the cast (you have the option on several episodes to either view the show as it aired or watch it with commentaries taped over it).

I was only expecting four DVDs containing all the shows, and was utterly delighted with the seven discs holding all these extras. The sturdy & attractively designed pastel cases in which each DVD is contained are a cut above lots of cheap DVD packaging out there, which is a nice touch too.

When I first happened upon an episode of Coupling a few years ago courtesy of my local PBS station, I was surprised that such a poorly written and produced show could make it to the airwaves. I failed to realize at the time that Mr. Moffat was a brilliantly funny writer and the plots were supposed to be absurd. At this point I consider myself a hard core fan.

In the fourth series, the writing and overall production of the show feels so polished it bears very little resemble to the slapped-together quality of the first season, for lack of a better term. The character of Jane (aka the 'stupid one') has made the most noticeable transformation in the fourth series. Her 'dumb brunette' act has been toned down to the point of being almost unrecognizable, which works better anyway and is far less grating. I have to wonder if this was Gina Bellman's idea?

The fourth series does suffer a little from the loss of Jeff (Richard Coyle) especially in light of the fact that the character of Oliver (Richard Mylan) was clearly modeled after Jeff Murdoch. Like Jeff, Oliver is an easily-flustered, tongue-tied dork around women. He's likeable enough though, but as a new character I felt he should have had a completely different role to add another dimension to the show. Watching him you only wind up making comparisons to the inimitable Jeff. However the chemistry between goofy Oliver and dim-witted Jane has the effect of balancing their respective exaggerated personality traits out and makes scenes between these two characters especially engrossing.

All of the characters have really grown on me over the seasons, particularly Ben Miles (The Forsyte Saga) an amazing actor who effortlessly manages to make the womanizing character he portrays (Patrick Maitland) loveable and utterly realistic.

I am anxiously awaiting a fifth season!

It is so dramatically painful to read the reviews written by people from USA. It is literally incredible to see how big is the amount of idiot annotations about the weakness of the plot, how tall is the mountain of stupid comments about the director choice of making a documentary movie without any focalization on the private lives of the two main characters (???), how deep is the sea of useless hypothesis about the real development of facts. (Is it necessary to remember that the plot had not been taken from a novel?). This kind of discoveries make me actually convinced that the amount of ignorance is also huge, even if I am really surprised at least three or four people decided to see such film. This movie tells something about the recent hystory of USA: the truth of the facts can be checked in any one of the various American sites dedicated to the S&V vicissitude (...).
The Montaldo's hystorical reconstruction is almost perfect: the movie was even usefull to arrive to the pubblic worldwide excuses pronounced by governor M. Dukakis in 1977. The "interpretation" of the two actors is simply superbe. I suggest to not-italian-speaking audience to watch this movie in original language (italian) with subtitles.
I was expecting to find reviews from people who didn't know anything about S&V, surprised by the described events, available to criticize their own legal system and seriously upset for the "byproducts" - it's better to say - the effect of the American democracy... I am scandalized and offended by the ignorance of people who don't know anything about S&V and the only thing they can report in a review is some cinematographic comment. It is time to diffuse this movie, or the story told in it, more than it has been done since today. Don't you think?

3D GARAGE modo 301 Signature Courseware Review

Modo by Luxology is without doubt one of the best kept secrets out there. Once you get your mind wet with the interface, the ease of use, and the amazing results (totally friendly to first time users) you will wonder how you ever missed this one.
And the video and book by Dan are first rate productions (as is Modo) that make the introduction a wonderful experience.
That said as good as they are, they could have been better. I have found that the consistency of the videos somewhat irregular at best. The sound and coverage seems at times to be somewhat unplanned. Then again there are so many possibilities in direction it can seem difficult to choose. With a little practice you will find you will be exploring and discovering all of the many tools avaliable. Modo's interface is one that is clean and many of the layers of tools are just a click away. I would recommend anyone who is new to Modo to purchase both of these: the book and video tutorial. Also remember that Modo has extensive help within the program as well. Check it out. The results are stunning and Modo's physical enviroment and rendering engine is fast and gorgeous. You gotta get with the program....just wait and see what they have up their sleeves in the next year and months....Rumors are going to blow your 3D mind.

I'll admit I had to try this DVD out a couple of times to give it a fair test because it's very detailed and requires active listening and concentration on modifying and perfecting form. It's really not a relaxation DVD while you are in the midst of performing the poses- but it certainly accomplishes that mood once you're finished. Though it's level 1, some of these stretches are challenging partly because they affect multiple muscle groups simultaneously and deeply. You will FEEL these stretches in new areas you're not normally used to working out if you're new to pilates and yoga.

I own several level 1 pilates and yoga DVDs by the most popular practitioners, but I particularly like this one for it's differences. The style is quiet and there were a vast amount of new stretches or poses I had not been introduced to already. The constant verbal guidance I found very helpful for learning proper technique and the purpose. For example, "Downward Dog is a working pose, not a resting one. It is meant to prepare you the next movement." If you follow her clear, gentle but constant instruction, you'll find yourself making modifications frequently at first. For downward dog, I learned to not rest the bulk of my weight on the wrists but projecting out long through the finger tips. Keeping the back straight and not slouching the shoulder girdle, etc. There are modifications provided for both simplifying a pose to make it less deep as well as the opposite (i.e. using an elastic band if your range of motion is limited). It beats having to stop and refer to the pose in a book which I also do on occasion.

Her verbal instruction is very clear on when and how to extend or limit your range for safety's sake. For example, when she guides you to breathe (for example as in to initiate a movement on an exhale, return to center on an inhale) she points out that if you're straining to breathe or cannot continue into a deeper point in the pose while maintaining the breathing focus, then you've gone too far. I liked the amazingly thorough stretching and the fact that the session was not too "easy" or short.

I like to use this DVD when I'm sore after strenuous excercise, to relieve general arthritis symptoms, or when I'm unable to wind down and go to sleep at night. Though sets and music are not slick and hip, I enjoyed seeing real women work through the poses without having to talk or stop, while the instructor narrated and pointed beside them. PJ's voice is perfect for me-- not trance-like or little-girly or zen-master. I wanted straightforward examples, instruction and guidance, not a meditation with New Age music. Focusing on her verbal instruction for movements, breathing, form and philosophy, will certainly give you enough to ponder, rejuvenate and tone.

This DVD is different in style and not meant to compare to Ravi & Anna's Kundalini yoga DVD "Ultimate Stretch" in my opinion.
